Thame MP John Howell has heralded a drop in the number of unemployed people in June 2014.

The figure has dropped to 333 – a six year record of unemployment. This is 204 lower than in June 2013 and 38 lower than in May 2014.

The number of young people (18-24 years old) claiming Job Seekers Allowance also dropped to a total of 15 in Thame and Henley combined.

John Howell said: “This is absolutely fantastic news and shows our long term economic plan is having a positive effect.

“At a time when we as a nation have reached the record levels of employment set in 2005, this is stunning news for the Henley constituency.

“More people have the security of a job than ever before. It is a great story and one which brings out the best of the constituency.

“I am particularly happy to see youth unemployment at such a low level.”

In April 2008, the number of people unemployed in the constituency was 345.
