Buckinghamshire Care has completed its takeover to maintain services for the elderly in two villages.

The agreement in December came after Age UK announced it was unable to continue the service at Steeple Claydon and ended a period of uncertainty as to whether the two centres could continue.

But the takeover has been completed with all Age UK staff working at the facilities in Steeple Claydon and Wing transferring to Buckinghamshire Care.

Managing Director Martin Farrow said: “We are delighted to be managing the centres and hope to continue a service which – as one client described – is ‘the place where people smile’.

“Like all of our existing services, it is our aim to make a really positive impact on individuals at Steeple Claydon and Wing, providing them with an innovative and safe service, delivered by skilled and passionate people.”

Bucks County Council cabinet member for health and wellbeing Patricia Birchley said: “This welcome move secures the continuity of services that are highly valued by both users and those that care for them.”

Councillor for Grendon Underwood Angela Macpherson said: “It’s great news for our community around Steeple Claydon that we’ve been able to secure the future of this important local service.”
