THE annual duck race which sees 2,500 toy ducks dramatically cast into the river Thame could be postponed as a result of the wet weather.
Thame and District Round Table is hoping to hold it ninth duck race this Sunday, however the amount of rain that has fallen has caused the river to flood.
Due to the unpredictable state of the water level, Thame Round Table will assess the situation on Saturday whether the event will carry on or be postponed to the following week. Announcements will be made at the Thame carnival and updates will be posted at www.facebook.com/ThameDistrictRoundTable753
The plan for this year’s event is to release the ducks into the river, before they race down the quarter mile course to the finishing post. There will be prizes for the first three ducks to finish.
The cost to sponsor a duck is £2 and the proceeds will be donated to charities and worthy causes. Buy tickets from Thame Citizens Advice Bureau and at the Thame Carnival coming up this Saturday.
