Three long-standing Thame businesses are to shut up shop next month.

Charlotte’s Webb, Ricochet Fashions and Arts Desire, which are all based in Swan Walk, have decided to close when their leases come to an end.

But Trish Morrison, who has run childrens clothing shop Charlotte’s Web for 19 years, said none of them are closing because of struggles brought on by the recession.

Mrs Morrison said: “It just happens our leases run out together and we all decided we didn’t want to renew. It’s nothing to do with the recession, we have all got really good business here.”

Ladies fashion boutique Ricochet has been in Swan Walk, where the Thame Gazette office used to be based, for 10 years, while Arts Desire has been there for 16 years.

Mrs Morrison says they have all been overwhelmed with messages of thanks and people expressing sadness they are leaving.

She said: “I’ve had quite a few people that have said ‘Thame won’t be the same anymore’. We have had quite a few tears from customers. I was walking down the high street and someone shouted ‘I don’t believe you’re going’. I had to say ‘sorry, but it’s true’.”

Mrs Morrison said she and the owners of the two others shops would like to thank all of their customers for their support over the years.
