AROUND 8,000 vintage car and steam engine enthusiasts came to Shabbington during the weekend to take part in the Great Bucks Steam & Country Fair.
There were 21 working steam engines, along with commercial army vehicles and fire engines as well as vintage cars and motorbikes.
It was the 27th running of the event and organisers were pleased with the outcome, even if they did have to battle with the rain.
Chairman Maria Millan said: “A lot of people travel quite far to get here and like it because it has a local feel and is organised by a family and a few friends.
“We just hope all those who came down enjoyed it and will come back again next year.”
The fair initially started 29 years ago but in that time, two fairs had to be called off – one due to the foot and mouth outbreak and another because of heavy rain.
The money raised on the day will all go towards a charity, which will be decided at a meeting next week.
