Thame Youth Memorial’s new garden will be officially opened on Sunday.

The ceremony will include entertainment, speeches from the chairman of the Youth Memorial Trust and the Mayor of Thame and the unveiling of a memorial sculpture.

Located next to the Pearce Memorial and War Memorial gardens, the space has been created to provide ‘a place of reflection for all and remembrance for those affected by the loss of a young person’.

The new garden includes a pair of hardwood benches, a granite water feature, an infinity symbol around a stone bearing the Thame Youth Memorial icon and a sculpture.

Peter Butt, the trust’s chairman, thanked everyone who has been involved in the project.

He said: “Every contractor and volunteer involved in the project has given so much more than we could have expected to complete the works, they have shared our passion to deliver a suitable memorial and that has helped overcome every challenge.

“Our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone that has supported the project either financially or practically.”
