Former Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona was the star of the show as she switched on Thame’s Christmas lights in front of 1,500 people.
Kerry, 34, who lives in Chinnor, turned on the lights alongside Andrew Derbyshire, who plays Prince Charming in the pantomime Cinderella at the Waterside Theatre, Aylesbury and town mayor Jeannette Matelot Green.
Jeannette said: “I felt so proud leading the lantern parade through the town and then arriving at the Town Hall to listen to our combined primary school choirs who sang so beautifully.
“Meeting Kerry Katona was very exciting and she is such a bundle of energy and fun.
“She had dashed from London, where she is rehearsing for the Atomic Kitten tour and the crowd loved her, especially the children, who took many selfies with her.”
Father Christmas was also in attendance at the event which featured a Santa convention, a miniature steam railway in the High Street and a parade of hamdmade lanterns made by schoolchildren in the build-up to the switch-on. There was also live music from choirs of children and the Thame Concert Band.
