A THAME grassroots coach trained with some of the biggest names in football under the famous Wembley arches on Sunday.

Patrick Conway and his team, Thame United, won a place on the first ever McDonald’s Coaching Masterclass and were put through training workshops by Sir Geoff Hurst, Andrew Cole, Pat Jennings, Gareth Southgate, Eric Harrison and Martin Keown.

Patrick was delighted to be given the opportunity to play on the Wembley turf and said: “I know my team enjoyed every second of it and I will certainly never forget this day.”

Sir Geoff, who is McDonald’s director of football, said: “It was a special day for Patrick and Wembley was the perfect setting for the Masterclass.”

McDonald’s is dedicated to supporting grassroots football and has pledged to train 30,000 coaches over the next four years.
