Everyone’s invited to a big birthday bash in Thame - and you shouldn’t forget the date!
The First Thursday Music Club are celebrating their fifth birthday with an evening featuring many of the acts that have performed at the open mic event over the years.
The birthday bash takes place at The Stables in The James Figg pub in Thame on Thursday February 5 at 8pm - and it’s all free!
The music club’s master of ceremonies Phil Westerman said: “Five years ago there were several open mic nights around Thame but not one actually in the town.
“Johnny Littler wanted to set one up so he found a room, brought a public address system and invited a few guests.
“Now it has turned into a real monster, it is one of the biggest nights out in Thame and we regularly get 150 or so people here.”
Artists returning to mark the event including country two-piece band The August List, singer-songwriter Nikki Loy and The Memphis Rattlesnakes.
Since the club’s founding more than 750 acts have played around 3000 tunes.
The performers have ranged from people playing publicly for the first time through to American acts stopping off in Thame as part of their European tours.
Mr Westerman said: “A lot of people come for the social side rather than the music now.
“It is incredible how it has evolved over the years and it is great to be a part of it.”
