THE theme for the hotly-anticipated Thame Carnival has been announced as mardi gras.

On Saturday, June 18, the whole town will come to a standstill as it celebrates the annual carnival and parade.

The procession will go through the town centre and end up at the recreation ground, but then the party will only just be getting started.

The streets of Thame will be filled with excitement and creativity.

For one day only the high street will be hidden behind bright and bold colours.

A spokesman for organisers said: “It is hoped local groups and businesses will be involved so the music and laughter will be heard all over.”

The Parade starts at midday and the fete at the Southern Road Recreation Ground will run from 1pm to 4pm.

There will be food stalls offering gourmet treats and tantalising tastes, among many other attractions.
