The chairman of a Scouts and Guides association is encouraging others to come forward and train as Scout leaders.

Richard Kendall, who is chairman of the Haddenham Association of Scouts and Guides, is appealing for others to step up to the plate and help leader Guy Redshaw, who is single-handedly running a group of 15 boys Scouts aged 10 to 14.

Richard, who lives in Haddenham, said: “ We are in desperate need of help to ensure the future of the Scout troop.

“Guy needs assistance on a regular basis, and scouting offers a great deal of fun for the youngsters while helping them learn and achieve.

“We have a pack of 40 Cubs at present, who will soon be moving up to become Scouts.

“But without more leaders to help out, it will not be possible for those Cubs to move up.”

Those who want to get involved will need to undergo a CRB check and several straightforward training courses.

The leaders help organise activties for the boys, including swimming, camping and trips out. The troop meets each Friday during term time from 7pm to 9pm. If you can help, call Guy on 01844 290119.
