A NEW community choir is going to start in the Methodist Chapel in Haddenham on Tuesday lunchtimes.
Community Choir Roger Jackson, who used his musical talents at Haddenham Community Infant School when his children were pupils there, has been leading a successful community choir in Stoke Mandeville for the past year on Monday evenings.
On September 13, he is going to start one in Haddenham, on Tuesday lunchtimes (1pm-2.30 pm), term-time only, in the Methodist Chapel. The emphasis is on singing for fun – no auditions, no solos, no sight reading – it is open to all!
It has been scientifically proven that singing is good for you and Roger is keen to encourage anyone who enjoys singing to come and give it a go. Costs will be £7 per session on a ‘drop-in’ basis or £5 per session if you pay a half term in advance.
Roger’s partner Sue said: “The feedback from the Stoke Mandeville choir has been fabulous, with many people who have always wanted to sing but never had the chance, or who haven’t sung since being told not to in their school choir, feeling empowered to sing and really enjoying themselves and feeling great. It’s very much a community event – and is a not-for-profit organisation.”
