SHOP fronts in Thame could be getting makeovers thanks to a new scheme aimed at brightening up the town.

Funding is now available to assist shops in the town and surrounding villages to help improve the look of their stores from the outside.

The Shop Front Improvement Scheme is open to businesses including hairdressers, beauty salons, funeral directors and launderettes.

Financial services such as banks and estate agents can also benefit, as can restaurants, pubs and takeaways.

It will be administered by 21st Century Thame.

Chairman Cat Young said: “The way our shops look can make a real difference to what people think about a town, so hopefully many of the shopkeepers in Thame and the surrounding area will take advantage of the scheme and help make their shopping streets areas to be proud of.”
