The High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, Sir Stuart Hampson, took part in an event to raise money for church repairs in the county.
Sir Stuart (centre), is seen with Lady Hampson (third from the left) standing outside St Bartholomew’s Church , Fingest.
Undeterred by the rain, he and a party of friends were taking part in the Buckinghamshire Historic Churches Trust’s annual sponsored ‘ride and stride’ event on Saturday.
Participants are given lists of churches taking part, which is the vast majority of those in the county, and go from one to another either singly or in groups, having planned their own routes. They can walk, cycle or even go on horseback.
The trust provides grants for the preservation, repair, maintenance and upkeep of the fabric of churches, chapels of any denomination, throughout Buckinghamshire.
Each year the trust is able to approve about £60,000 in grants.
