CHILDREN, parents and teachers donned Christmas hats and walked to school last week.
The so-called Santa Stroll is a traditional event for St Mary’s School, Haddenham, and is part of the drive to encourage as many people to walk to school as possible.
On Wednesday morning everyone met by the Catholic church in the centre of the village, put on Father Christmas hats provided by the Parent-Teacher Association, and walked in a group to school.
Throughout the year St Mary’s have run a Walk On Wednesdays, or WOW for short, campaign aimed at getting people to walk to school, even if it means parking elsewhere and walking the last hundred yards.
After the walk there were mince pies and coffee for the parents.
The walk is an annual event which has been going on for four years as part of the school’s ethos of getting pupils active and persuading parents to leave the cars at home.
