Villagers who have suffered 14 major power cuts are demanding answers.

Homes in Weston Turville were plunged into darkness again last week and Councillor Phil Yerby, who represents the ward believes the problems are caused by sub station problems in the village and Wendover.

He said: “The village works on a three phase system and the main fuse to one of those phases was tripped and needed replacing.

“If your home is on one of the phases that has been tripped you will have a powercut.

“This is the 14th power cut the village has suffered since May 4 last year. The smallest lasting five minutes and the largest for eight-and-a-half hours.

“The most recent one lasted three hours.”

He added: “The problem can only get worse until a major upgrade is carried out.”

Mr Yerby has since spoken to UK Power Networks, which is responsible for the supply, in an attempt to resolve the situation.

An the councillor is set to meet with a lead field engineer in Weston Turville next week.

He said: “It’s no good explaining we have a lot of power cuts because of poor infrastructure, they are getting too long and too frequent.

“We want to know what they plans are to upgrade the infrastructure and I shall be ensuring UK power networks push this forward urgently”.

A spokesman for UK Power Networks, said: “UK Power Networks would like to apologise for the interruptions to electricity supplies experienced in Weston Turville.

“We do appreciate how difficult it can be to lose power and always reconnect power supplies as quickly as possible.”
