MP for Thame John Howell has thrown his weight behind a Post Office bid for DVLA work.
Post offices currently do some work for the DVLA, such as issuing road tax licences, and Post Office Ltd is now bidding for a £450million contract.
Mr Howell believes winning the contract would mean substantial new business coming to the area’s post offices, which he says could help to secure their financial future.
He has written to DVLA chief executive Simon Tse and the Department for Transport to show his support.
Mr Howell said: “This would be good news as post offices form the lifeblood of many rural communities and the local post office has the potential to become a genuine front office for government at both the national and local level.”
