Police are searching for a man who allegedly tried to sexually assault a woman in the Grafton Road area.

The victim, a woman in her thirties, was looking out the window of a property at about 9am on Monday when she saw the man walk past.

He waved at her and she went to open her front door as she thought he might be lost.

On opening the door, the man allegedly tried to touch her inappropriately but she pushed him away and he fled.

The man is described as white and lightly tanned, in his late twenties, around 5ft 5ins, of slim build, with slightly wavy hair which was unkempt and in no particular style.

He had stubble on his face and looked unshaven. He was wearing a blue and white horizontally striped t-shirt and three-quarter length trousers.

Investigating officer PC Abigail Jackman said: “The victim is understandably shaken following this incident, but thankfully she managed to push the man away.

“This is a disturbing incident and we need the public’s help to identify the man responsible.

“If you recognise the description, or were in the Grafton Road area around the time of the incident and saw a man acting suspiciously, please call us as soon as possible.”
