An Aylesbury school held a graduation ceremony for its departing pupils – and there was much to celebrate.
Oak Green School in Southcourt may be located in one of the most deprived estates in Bucks, but it recently followed up its hatrick of good Ofsteds with its year six children securing some superb SATS results.
Those pupils are now heading to a variety of different schools, including several to Grammars.
At Wednesday’s graduation ceremony awards were handed to the children, including for the ‘most improved’ pupil, Kieren Shurrock, who headteacher Elaine Barry said was a rolemodel to the rest of the school.
She added: “It was a very big celebration, it was not sad at all.”
All of Oak Green’s pupils matched or exceeded the expected level four in reading in the SATS exams, while 97.5% managed this in maths.
“They were our best ever SATS results and from what I gather from other schools is that we have done really quite well compared to the rest of the county,” Mrs Barry said.
