THAME mayor David Bretherton invited people to join him on a New Year’s Day walk, to start 2012, the Olympic year, with a little bit of sociable exercise.
A total of 28 people set off from Raquets at 10.45am.
Many were old friends, some were new ones, there were experienced and inexperienced walkers and some like Joan had never walked further than the shops before.
The walk was about six miles to North Weston and through the Oxfordshire golf course returning via Moreton and ending with a welcoming soup and a pint at the James Figg at for 1pm.
Thanks to all who helped in the organisation and all those who took part and who contributed to the £68 that was raised for the Mayor’s charities.
