Man fined more than £900 for dumping waste

A MAN has been find more than £900 after he was found guilty of dumping waste.

James Thomas Lester, 27, formerly of St John’s Drive, Stone, Aylesbury, was prosecuted after his household waste was found illegally dumped off the Oxford Road at Botts Furlong Farm, Stone.

Lester, now of Dunraven Drive, Enfield, Middlesex, pleaded guilty at Wycombe Magistrates Court to the offence of dumping waste illegally.

When interviewed, Lester admitted to dumping the waste on September 30, 2009, after a confrontation with a neighbour who had demanded he take action over his offensive bin.

The case took several years to come to court as Lester failed to attend previous hearings. He attended court after being arrested by the police on the outstanding warrant.

On sentencing, magistrates took into account that Lester had spent more than 24 hours in custody following his arrest, and fined him £150. He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £750 and a victim surcharge of £15 – a total of £915.
