An after school club which had its council funding withdrawn has been saved after a new operator was found.
The Jonathan Page Play Centre (JPPC) has been saved after a last-minute deal between the council and the Buckinghamshire Learning Trust.
Services will continue after the trust, an educational charity based in Aylesbury, stepped in to manager the centre from September.
Parent campaigners from the JPPC Friends Group have been lobbying Aylesbury Vale District Council to help them find an alternative operator, after it announced it would withdraw funding for the after school club last December.
Amanda Taylor Hopkins, education director for the Buckinghamshire Learning Trust, which is funded by Bucks County Council, said: “Through the JPPC, Buckinghamshire Learning Trust will be offering local children inspirational new ‘out of school’ learning opportunities and building on the excellent work already going on in their local schools.
“We have really ambitious and exciting plans for the future of JPPC.”
The council had been due to stop funding in September, but in light of the new agreement it will continue funding the centre until January.
