A woman who has lost the equivalent weight of an entire person can now fit her whole body into one leg of her old trousers.

Allie Girling started gaining weight as a small child, even though no one else in her family was overweight.

At the age of 12 she already weighed 15 stone and was put on a diet by the nurse at her local doctor’s surgery.

“But it went all to pot,” she said, “I had just started secondary school and the contents of my lunchbox was so different to everyone else I thought, this is never going to happen. I had strawberries and chopped up carrots and they had crisps and chocolate.”

Allie’s weight spiralled and when she left school at the age of 18 she was a size 20. There was no one food that was her downfall, she says she just loves all food.

Now, after losing more than nine stone with Slimming World she is a size 12 and has just got into her first pair of skinny jeans.

“I’ve never worn a pair of jeans in my life before,” she said. “It’s just wonderful. I love my newfound confidence, I feel more positive about life, I can see a better future.”

The turning point for Allie was as she approached her 30th birthday and saw friends posting pictures of their own 30th celebrations on Facebook.

“I decided I wanted to have a party for my 30th birthday and I wanted to wear a nice sexy pink dress. I didn’t want to hide away for another 10 years like I’d done in my twenties.”

A friend from work attended Slimming World and persuaded Allie to join her. She was over 20 stone and in the first week lost 8lbs.

She said: “That really gave me a boost. I didn’t even feel hungry. I cut down but I didn’t give anything up. Every day even now I still have a chocolate bar and a packet of crisps, I can’t live without them.”

Allie, who lives in Monks Risborough and works as a teaching assistant at Princes Risborough primary school, reached her final target five weeks ago.

She now intends to use her inspirational story to help others and is starting up her own Slimming World class at Stoke Mandeville Stadium on April 11 at 7.30pm where anyone is invited to just turn up.

She feels totally in control now and says she can go anywhere and do anything because she plans ahead, and is now the slimmest person in her family.

For the past 12 years Allie has been a part of Princes Risborough netball team.

At five foot nine inches she was positioned near the net as shooter and barely moved, just waiting for the ball to be passed to her.

“Now I’m in the A team and although I’m still shooter, I am more active on the court,” she said.

When she was overweight Allie faced many embarrassments, it was difficult to sit in the cinema and she was innocently asked by people whether she was pregnant.

Losing weight meant she did get her 30th birthday party and she did wear her sexy pink dress.
