More than 100 sporty kids aged from four to 11 showed their scootering, cycling and running talents in Bank Holiday Monday’s Florrie’s Scootathlon challenge event, which took place at Stoke Mandeville Stadium in glorious sunshine.
Spirit and camaraderie on the day was extremely high, even amongst some of the more competitive entrants with ‘Duathlon’ children (aged nine to 11) who crossed the finishing line in first and second place ‘high fiving’ and congratulating one another.
Ruth Early from Florence Nightingale Hospice said: “We are so pleased with the turnout today.
“It’s simply been a wonderful atmosphere with everyone cheering on all our Scootathlon and Duathlon entrants.”
It is hoped over £3,000 will be raised from the event to help support the Florrie’s Children’s Team.
