Haddenham villagers have raised almost £4,000 for a popular cafe owner who suffered a brain haemorrhage.

Domenico Pisapia, of Cafe Cibo, had been in intensive care for more than three weeks at John Radcliffe Hospital in a coma before being transferred to Stoke Mandeville last week.

A number of locals have donated to a fund for Domenico and his partner Silvia Iskrvoa with £830 raised at an impromptu coffee and cake morning held by Puddleducks Pre-School.

Silvia said: “This is incredible. I can’t believe how much people are supporting us.”

Mr Cibo is now able to breathe without a ventilator but remains in a coma.

Cafe Cibo opened four years ago and it has become a popular place in the village with locals.

The restaurant eventually reopened in the evenings and was used widely by people for birthdays, anniversaries and family meals.
