Disruption during upgrade of GP’s patient records system

PATIENTS at the Rycote Practice are being warned there will be fewer appointments between November 9 and 17 – and are being asked not to request repeat prescription between those dates.

The disruption will take place while the practice, which has 11,000 registered patients, upgrades its computer system.

A spokesman said: “In the future we will be able to do many things that we cannot do at the moment including send electronic requests for blood tests to hospitals and prescriptions to local pharmacies, record some tests such as ECGs directly into your records, link to other computer systems to reduce the delay in receiving information about care you received at hospital, allow faster transfer of records for patients joining the practice, and send text reminders to mobile phones.”
