One of the most highly-rated wedding and family photographers in the North West has set up shop in Chinnor and is already finding inspiration in her new surroundings.

Alexandra Davies turned her passion and talent for photography from a hobby into a business after starting a family three years ago and her work has since featured in glossy magazines and leading online sites.

Having relocated from Bolton, the snapper visited Thame Food Festival last weekend and with her photography blog named as one of the top 100 to follow, Mrs Davies’ work is set to make a strong impact in Oxfordshire.

She said: “I really enjoy using the outdoors as the backdrop to my pictures and this county has an abundance of lovely locations.

“I am very privileged as a photographer to record special moments in people’s lives.

“To be able to do that well requires so much more than technical know-how.

“It is the quality of relationship the photographer has with the people in front of the camera that shines through in the best pictures.

“Photography is such a potent medium. Nothing else has the power to make time stand still.”

Mrs Davies’ business is home-based but her wedding work takes her to locations all over the county and beyond.

She says her ‘contemporary signature style’ is achieved through really getting to know the couples she photographs.

Mrs Davies said: “We have several meetings and an informal photo session so I can really get to know couples and they can feel comfortable with me.

“By the time the big day comes, they are so used to the camera they can just be themselves and that’s when you get the really magical shots.”

The photographer is currently preparing for work with children starting school and Christmas family portraits.
