A LONG-STANDING member of the Thame Players and former local radio presenter is launching her new series of children’s books at The Sunday Times Oxford Literary Festival.

When Penelope Harper quit her full-time position as news editor at local radio station, Mix96, she says her parents thought she had lost her mind.

She took up a part-time position at Lord Williams’s School in Thame and worked on writing her own series of children’s books on her days off. The gamble paid off and Penelope will launch the Lollipop and Grandpa books at The Sunday Times Oxford Literary Festival on Sunday, April 1.

Lollipop and Grandpa’s Back Garden Safari is the first in a series about a little girl and her relationship with her grandfather.

It is inspired by Penny’s own relationship with her much-loved and greatly-missed grandfather, who inspired her work.

The collection is currently available to buy online and will be will be in bookshops from March 15.
