THAME Sports Centre will be celebrating one year to go until the 2012 Olympic Games by offering a range of free activities at the weekend.

There will be free children’s play sessions as well as spinning classes and body training.

The centre will also be offering prizes throughout the weekend for people who take up the chance to enter a team in the Thame to Dorney challenge, which features a 45km run and 4.4km row - all in the sports centre.

District councillor Bill Service said: “Excitement is really starting to build towards next summer and what better way to kick it all off than by taking part in the one year to go celebrations at one of our leisure centres.”

Carey James, from Nexus Community, which runs the centre, added: “It is fantastic to be a part of the UK-wide celebrations counting down to the Games and to give local communities the chance to celebrate with us.

“We hope the free sessions and events will inspire people to get active and try something new.”
