Engineering stars of the future were recognised at a special awards ceremony this week.
The High Sherriff of Oxfordshire Young Engineer Awards, which were sponsored by Thame-based Lucy Electric, and prizes included Chromebook computers.
The winner of the best student in the age 14-16 category was Rebecca McRitchie. Rebecca was nominated for her dedication to engineering,which includes attending after school and holiday clubs, gaining extra qualifications in cybersecirity and programming and developing solar-powered technology and 3D animations in her spare time.
John Griffiths, of Lucy Electrics, said: “Lucy Electric is committed to creating opportunities for young people to develop their skills in engineering. We have numerous examples of Lucy Electric apprentices going on to achieve remarkable engineering accomplishments, and by so doing ensure continued development of high technology, high quality products and solutions used in electrical distribution networks around the world. We were delighted to see a significant number of young women keen to enter the engineering world.” .
