Christians remember the crucifixion on Good Friday

Faithful Christians gathered in Haddenham on Good Friday to take part in a walk of witness.

The worshippers, who attend churches in Haddenham and Thame, took part in the event in observance of Christ’s suffering, crucifixion and death.

Christians gathered on Townsend Green and processed to St Mary’s Parish Church, pausing en route for prayers and a hymn at Banks Parade.

The role of carrying the heavy wooden cross at the start of the procession was shared by Pietro Pizzo and Colin Stocker.

After the walk, the congregation attended a service at St Mary’s Church, which included meditations on the Easter story.

The service was led by members of the local community.

Many Christians around the world mark Good Friday with walk of witness events.

The powerful events help Christians to reflect and remember what they believe about Jesus’ death and resurrection.

Christian’s believe that Good Friday is the day that Jesus died on the cross. According to biblical teachings Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus and he was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane, before being put to death on the cross.
