THE Facebook campaign to stop a large Sainsbury’s coming to Thame has gathered momentum this week after more than 350 people signed up.
The online petition was featured in last week’s Thame Gazette and since then has seen a large increase in numbers.
Marius Ciortan, who created the campaign, said: “We would like to thank everyone, we have had a fantastic response this week.”
The page was set up to counter a proposal from the large supermarket chain to build a store on the cattle market site in the town.
If the plans go ahead it would see a store the size of Waitrose built at the historic site, with the market moving to the Showground.
