Anti-HS2 group to hold summit in Aylesbury

Anti-HS2 group 51m is hosting a summit to discuss how to take the campaign forward.

Opponents took legal challenges to the Supreme Court last week and are now awaiting the judges’ ruling.

They are also awaiting the HS2 Hybrid Bill, which would give the Government parliamentary permission to proceed with the scheme.

A Paving Bill is already making its way through Parliament.

The Hybrid Bill is expected to be introduced to Parliament by the end of the year.

Following its second reading, a select committee will be set up to scrutinise the bill, at which point anyone opposing it can present their case to the committee as a petition.

The coming summit for 51m stakeholders will look at the implications of the Hybrid Bill and petitioning process, with expert speakers focussing on these areas.

It is being held from 9.30am to 1pm on November 5 at Aylesbury Vale District Council’s offices in Gatehouse Road.
