A past BBC Young Musician of the Year will perform during Aylesbury Symphony Orchestra’s first show of the New Year.

Anna Markland, of Princes Risborough, won the BBC award in 1982 and has since become a renowned professional pianist and singer.

She will perform Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor.

Other highlights of the concert include works by Tchaikovsky and Dvorak.

The concert takes place on February 3 in Aylesbury’s St Mary’s Church at 3.30pm.

Orchestra spokesman Paul Ramsell said: “We are also looking for new players for our orchestra, ideally local residents who may be looking for a new hobby.”
