THE town’s biggest ever duck race took to the River Thame on Sunday as 2,300 plastic pets were released into the water.
More than 1,200 people were on the side of the river banks to watch the quarter-mile race and created quite an atmosphere as they cheered their ducks over the finish line.
Organiser Nick White said: “It was a great atmosphere – I think it was the best race we have had.
“We had captain Cunard dressed as a pirate, which was great fun and ended in him falling in the river. He loves it, I think he has found his vocation in life.”
The first three ducks to cross the line grabbed their owners a prize.
Around £4,500 was raised on the day, most of which will go to the charity SAFARI.
