One of the area’s biggest monthly music clubs will celebrate its third birthday this week.

The Thame-based First Thursday Music Club attracts fans from across the region.

Each month it has a coveted 10pm slot, where the headline act is invited to play.

Before that, all musicians are able to simply turn up on the night and play.

The acts that perform are mostly acoustic, drum kits are not allowed, although some performers use percussion boxes.

Thursday Club promoter Phil Westerman said; “The club, originally started by Jonny Littler, has grown to become the regular diary event for many people in Thame and the surrounding area.

“Jonnie’s band, called 2am Blue, are the featured act this month.

“The group comprise Johnnie on lead guitar and vocals, Jim Greenough on rhythm guitar and vocals, Steve Greenough on bass, Tom Reveler on percussion and new band member Vanessa Hake on keyboards and vocals.

“2am Blue should be on at around 10pm.

“Other acts that are returning for the birthday event include The August List, Joshua Gilbert, Sophie Crow, The Band With No Name and The Memphis Rattlesnakes.”

The First Thursday Music Club is held at The Stables, in the James Figg Pub.

The third birthday celebration takes place on February 7.

Those wishing to play can register from 7.45pm.
