COMEDIAN Bobby Davro is set to appear at the Waterside Theatre on Sunday as he introduces some of the county’s top talent.
The star, who shot to fame in the 1980s and recently enjoyed a stint on BBC soap opera EastEnders, will be hosting The Best of Bucks on Sunday.
The event, which features 10 finalists, will see cash raised for the Buckinghamshire Community Foundation and the MK Community Foundation.
Bobby told the Herald: “From me there’ll be a little bit of singing, and a lot of ridicule of (judge) Dave Lee Travis and the judges.
“They’re sitting the judges in the box at the side, so they’re going to look like those guys in The Muppets.
“I know there are some very good acts, the standard is fantastic.
“I’m really looking forward to it.”
The comedian said he was asked to compere the event by Waterside boss Elizabeth Adlington, but that he would not be trying to steal the limelight.
“This isn’t about me,” he said. “This is about the acts who are going to up on stage showing what they can do.
“It should be a great show.”
The finalists will be competing for a chance to perform at one of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Their fate will be in the hands of a panel of celebrity judges including legendary broadcaster and DJ ‘The Hairy Cornflake’ Dave Lee Travis and MK Dons Chairman Pete Winkelman.
Bobby said: “I’m glad I’m not a judge, it’s going to be a tough decision.”
The show will boast three Aylesbury acts who are hoping to make an impression.
John Rode My Bear are a four-piece rock band from Henry Floyd School, while 16-year-old singer Cristy Macleod and streetdance group Lockdown will all be looking for a first place finish.
