WE liked Sam Womack in Game On, the lad-favouring comedy of the nineties, writes Sammy Jones.
And as unashamed Eastenders fans, along with millions of others, we regularly watched the small screen to see her at work with the Mitchell clan.
But it’s one thing to shine on the small screen, another entirely to deliver the goods in the live arena.
And having seen her on the Milton Keynes Theatre stage in Guys and Dolls, we think it is where Sam really excels.
All of which makes her return to the theatre this coming week an exciting proposition.
Sam, left, appears in a classic production too – a winner of seven Tony Awards, and a show from the stable of the golden-wonder partnership that was Rodgers and Hammerstein. It’s South Pacific, of course, the story of two couples threatened by the realities of war and by their own prejudices, with classic tunes There Is Nothing Like A Dame and I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair.
South Pacific will bring back the summer rays with a ten night stay at the venue, from next Wednesday.
