Thame ladies put four past Sonning 4s as they prepare for life in a new division.
Last year the team won the league and were promoted and they seem to have continued that form into this season’s early games.
The side showed a great mix of expertise with Bridie Williamson excelling in defence and doing well on the wing.
Central midfielder Jenny Alexander did a good job of keeping possession and it wasn’t too long before Sawrey-Cookson had put Thame ahead with two fine goals.
Thame’s coach, club legend Ben Bennett, made some changes at half time bringing on Rosie Corby who proved instrumental in setting up the third goal.
A late appearance by Lizzie Greenwood-Hughes added a much needed spark to a fatigued team and she set up Emma Sawyer-Cunningham with a late goal to take the game to 4-0.
The ladies have two teams this year and are always happy to welcome new players.
They train at 8pm on Wednesdays at Thame Leisure Centre.
