Thame are flying as they take league form into cup with 1-0 home win

THAME United continued their impressive winning run with a 1-0 victory over visitors Oxford City Nomads last night (Wednesday).

United are unbeaten in nine league games and they took that form into the evening Oxford Senior Cup game against the Nomads.

The game had been moved from Oxford’s home ground to the ASM Stadium earlier in the day due to a waterlogged pitch and Thame made the best of their home advantage to go through to the semi-finals of the county cup.

A single goal from Alex Stewart, a header from a corner, was enough to separate the two sides on the night.

The Nomads had the lion’s share of possession but created few chances while Thame worked hard to win the ball back.

United manager Mark West said: “It was a very good team performance. All the lads were working very hard for each other.

“They were playing the ball around and had most of the ball.

“It’s nice to be on a run and into the semi-finals where we haven’t been for a few years.

“Over Christmas we have got two of the top teams in the league.

“Hopefully we can take our form into those games and get something.”

Thame face Ardley United on Tuesday December 27.
