Duathlon really is a family affair for brother Kieran and Ben Lindars as they travelled to Hillingdon to compete in the London Region Junior Duathlon, writes (their other brother) Daniel Lindars.

Despite a chilly start, the race began on time with a storming first run by Ben, competing in the 9-10 year old category, followed by a 5k bike race around the Minuet Bike Circuit and ending in a gruelling 1,500m run.

Ben finished in second place with a fantastic personal best time but not to be outdone by his brother, Kieran raced next with double the bike distance.

He finished in first position in a time that was more than four minutes faster than the next competitor in the 15-16 year old age group.

Ben said: “I am really proud of my brother, he is such an inspiration to me as it is a really tough sport.”

Duathlon consists of a running leg, followed by a cycling leg and then another running leg similar to triathlons.
