Motor racing legend Sir Stirling Moss was in Haddenham today to give his views on this weekend’s British Grand Prix and back a scheme giving buyers more confidence in secondhand cars.
The ‘greatest driver never to win the F1 world championship’ was the guest of honour at the WMS Group in Thame Road.
Sir Stirling was on hand to help celebrate the first anniversary of the firm’s Safe And Sound scheme – which ensures secondhand cars are safety checked, priced fairly, have a good warranty and no hidden past.
Talking about track matters, Moss said he believes Sebastian Vettel could win this weekend’s race at Silverstone.
The retired F1 driver rated the young German’s chances ahead of Aston Clinton Red Bull racer and team mate Mark Webber – who he believes will need a wet race to stand any chance of standing on the top spot of the podium on Sunday.
Moss also joked that he will have words with Jenson Button the next time he sees him, to discuss why the British star is yet to win on home soil.
During the interview, Moss also gave his backing to the proposed London Grand Prix, reflecting: “In the 50s we all wanted to do that in Hyde Park but the police turned it down saying they couldn’t control the traffic and people.”
