Mandeville School pupils enjoyed a special assembly last week as powerlifter, wheelchair basketball player and wheelchair racer Chris Rattenbury spoke to them about how sport can change people’s lives.

Rattenbury, who was born in Stoke Mandeville, competed in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi where he lifted 165kg.

Rattenbury was giving the talk as part of his role as an ambassador for the charity WheelPower.

He was accompanied on the visit to the school by Ollie Moore, who manages education, fundraising and communications for the charity, which is based at the Stoke Mandeville Stadium.
