Olympic volunteer inspired to get people running

Are you thinking of doing a charity run in 2013? Would you like to start running to improve your overall fitness or to help you lose weight? Help is at hand.

Steve Diane is starting a new Beginners’ Running Group after being inspired by his role as a GamesMaker at the London 2012 Olympics.

He said: “I am keen to build on the enthusiasm for sport that is part of the Olympic Legacy.

“The Get Running scheme provides me with a way of doing this and promoting the sport that I love. It is England Athletic’s recreational running programme, a structured way for complete beginners to start running.”

Starting in February Steve will work with a group of 10-12 over 10 weekly sessions of an hour.

At the end of the session members of the group should be in a position to comfortably run 10 kilometres and enter a charity run or race with confidence. There will be no charge for this as costs are being met by Oxford County Council. It will be open to anyone aged 18. For more info email thamerunners@stevediane.net
