Third in the league after third win in a row

Hockey: Thame men’s seconds battled to a tough hard-fought 2-1 away victory over Newbury and Thatcham.

The home side struck in the first 15 minutes but Thame dug in and refused to give in.

An impressive run by Howard brought the ball to the top of the D where it was picked up by Hawthorne who wasted no time in slamming home an equaliser.

The second goal was scored by David Bruggink and a man of the match performance from Mark Gould was crucial in ensuring Thame maintained their advantage until the final whistle.

The victory was the seconds third successive win and moves them up to third in the league.
