THAME endurance racer Jonny Kane ensured his team finished the season on a high with a strong performance in Portugal.
Kane’s team, Strakka Racing, secured second position in the 2011 Le Mans Series with a sixth place finish at Estoril.
The team started the day with the championship a mathematical possibility but their hopes were dashed when the car had to make an unscheduled pit stop for repairs, costing them 11 laps.
Nevertheless Kane and his team drove faultlessly securing sixth spot.
Kane said: “It wasn’t the result we wanted as far as a race finish is concerned, but considering the pace of some of the cars against us this year I think the team has done an outstanding job to finish second.”
