Strakka Racing, the endurance driving team based at Silverstone, go into the final race of the 2011 season needing something miraculous to happen in order for them to win the championship.

After a disappointing result at Silverstone the week before last it is still mathematically possible for Strakka to contest but in reality they are looking for a good show at Estoril in Portugal this weekend so they can build for next year.

Last week it was announced that Strakka will compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2012, the highest level of endurance driving.

Kane said: “Our aim is to go to Estoril and finish the season on a high by heading into our new P1 programme with a final victory in P2. The car worked well at Estoril in pre-season testing, so if we can score a point for qualifying on pole, that will guarantee we’ll carry a mathematical chance of winning the title into race day. It’s an uphill battle for us to win the title, but anything is possible.”
