Thame’s bowls season draws to a close

THAME’S last game was an away game of mixed triples at Aston Clinton.

The going was on the heavy side and the majority of bowls had a mind of their own, however, it was good fun in friendly company.

Thame lost the game 73 shots to 93. Top honours went to newcomer Graham Floyd. Who with Dave Powell and Skip John Rust won 21 shots to 10.

Thame Ladies midweek friendly game of triples at Headington was won by 59 shots to 40, most of the shots coming from the Barbara Waters, Jill Brooks and captain Sandy Seckington who stormed home with 32 shots to nine.

The final of Thame Bowls Club Friday evening mixed, played throughout the season, was a win for Vic Webb, George Manders, Bill Sandifer and captain Ingrid Dale who won with 15 shots to four after some exciting play.

Organised by Bill Giles with Vic Brooks and Coach Andy Walker, more than £1,000 was raised for the club and more than 80 bowlers took part.

With the top four teams all winning prizes.
