Wasps have secured the future of another one of their promising young talents after Aylesbury star Sam Jones signed a new contract.

The back-row forward joins the likes of Elliot Daly, Joe Launchbury and Christian Wade in committing himself to the Adams Park club.

The former Aylesbury Grammar School pupil and Aylesbury Rugby Club graduate has already made more than 50 appearances in the black and gold, including 24 this season and even some as captain.

The 21 year old, who was named Wasps’ young player of the year in 2012, said: “I have been involved as a player with Wasps for around 10 years now and I feel a real loyalty to the club.

“I am excited about what the future holds for this squad and with lots of young talent staying here, we are heading in a very positive direction.”

Meanwhile, the club’s director of rugby Dai Young has tipped Jones for the very top.

“I am a big fan of Sam’s and his work rate and professionalism is excellent on and off the field. I am convinced he will be a long term regular first team player for this club with huge potential to develop further at international level if he continues to progress as well as he has.”
