BOWLS: Thame Ladies have done it again for the second year running, they played last year’s finalists Shiplake, at the City and County bowls Club on August 21.

This year it was the turn of Margaret Bullock to win the singles and she pipped Thame captain Hazel Westcott by 21 shots to 17.

The pairing of Caroline Walker and Doreen Penn took the pairs for Thame by 25 shots to 17.

In the triples, Jill Brooks, Sandy Seckington and captain Gwen Ward could not repeat last year’s result and lost by 14 shots to Shiplake’s 23.

The spotlight was on the fours and both sides needed to win. The team of Maire Duncan, Marthie DuPreez, Ingrid Dale and Skip Maxine Plested rose to the occasion with some excellent bowling to win by 29 shots to 13, giving Thame the title for the second year running.
